Adoption

The First Steps

Veterinary Reference: A volunteer will call your Veterinarian and check the medical records of your pets over the last 5 years. Dogs MUST be spayed/neutered and on their current rabies, distemper/parvo. Please make sure you call the veterinary office prior to filling out an application and give them permission to speak with Allie & Pals Rescue. If current animals are not spayed/neutered and vaccinated, the application will be denied unless there is a valid medical reason determined by your Veterinarian. If this is your first dog we recommend finding a vet BEFORE applying and stating first time pet owner on application.

Personal References: A volunteer will call the personal references that you supplied in your adoption application. Please ask their permission ahead of time and inform them that Allie & Pals Rescue will be calling.

Landlord Approval: If renting, before applying for a dog, please discuss requirements and restrictions with your landlord. A volunteer will be calling to verify the information and determine if the dog you're interested in is a good fit.

MUST BE 21 YEARS AND OLDER TO ADOPT

Home Check

After your application has been reviewed and references have been called, a volunteer will call you to arrange a home visit. The home check will NOT involve a dog, but is rather a time to meet with a volunteer and get to know the rescue better. You will be able to ask any and all questions about the adoption process during this time. Please make sure all members of the household are present during the visit. We look forward to getting to know you!

How Far Do We Adopt Out?

This is a frequently asked question from our applicants. Our standard procedure is only adopting out 1-1.5 hours outside of Buffalo, NY. We do make allowances depending on the situation, adopter and our dogs. If you have further questions please reach out to our email!

Adoptable Animals

You're Approved!

Congratulations, we can't wait to help you find your next best friend!

Once your application has been approved, a volunteer will give you a pre-approval number. Follow our social media accounts, website, and adopt a pet page to view our adoptable dogs. If you see one that you fall in love with, email or direct message us on facebook! In the message, please include your first and last name, your pre-approval number, and the dog you're interested in.
