A&P Rescue is a solely foster home based rescue and without foster homes, we would not be able to save dogs! YOU are the one making the true difference and not only saving a dog from a shelter, but making room for another one to be saved off of the streets.
A&P Rescue provides all needed supplies for our dogs while in their foster homes (food, toys, blankets, etc.), all you provide is a safe and loving place to crash!
Fostering a dog does not require that you have loads of free time or advanced dog training skills. In fact, A&P Rescue supplies dog training assistance for all of our foster dogs. One of our trainers is a phone call/text message/email away at all times and are ready to help.
Our average foster home length of stay is 2 weeks but can range on an individual basis. A few weeks of your time can change the life of a dog forever.
Fostering is a great alternative to adopting a dog if you may not be ready for a 12+ year commitment.
Fosters get to know our dogs on a very close level and will know what type of home they will be most successful in. They also get to share their likes and dislikes with their furever family.
Some dogs can handle a shelter environment better than others. Many get overly excited or too anxious to let their true personality shine when they’re in a kennel. In a foster home, dogs can relax, so that potential adopters can get a good sense of how they’d be in a home.
It's so exciting to see a dog blossom in your home and you get to be a part of all of their little victories. Help a shy dog come out of their shell, watch an abused dog begin to trust again, laugh as a dog attempts to play with their first toy, enjoy seeing a puppy gain its own personality, and the list goes on forever!
The more animals your pets come in contact with, the better they are at dealing with stress and getting used to different personalities. Your pet might even find a playmate in your foster dog.
We match dogs with foster homes based on their preferences and restrictions. You can choose the size, breed, age, and temperament of the dogs that would fit best in your home environment.
Every time a shelter dog is able to leave the shelter for a foster home, space is created for another deserving homeless pet who needs a second chance.
You feel good, A&P can help more dogs, and your foster dog is happy, healthy, and well-socialized.
